Access to HE Courses

  • Age of students – from 18 years old,
  • The duration of studying is one year.

Access to higher education courses offer students effective preparation, quality professional knowledge and skills that will allow them to continue their studies in undergraduate programs. There are two key specialties in the college:

  • Ground research,
  • Veterinary.

The programs are a separate qualification, equivalent to A-Level, which provides the opportunity to take diverse courses at different higher education institutions at any point in the future. The curriculum will include specialized disciplines, seminars on learning skills and practice in specialized premises on a large-scale campus.

Upon completion of a one-year study, students will receive a level III diploma, which will allow them to enroll in a bachelor's degree in the studied specialty.

T-Level Courses

T-Level qualifications provide students with high-quality technical skills, allowing them to explore an area of interest from a practical perspective. Subject courses are available in five areas:

Apprenticeship Programs

Apprenticeship programs are multi-year studying that guarantees professional knowledge and skills. Basically, students who already have an employer and want to improve their qualifications to advance their careers are sent to apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships are taught in all college faculties, including veterinary science, digital business, horticulture. The curriculum includes many hours of practice in specialized workshops and laboratories, lectures and seminars on learning skills.

Sparsholt College is an institution of additional and professional education offering preparatory courses for university admission, the study of T-Level subjects. The main areas of teaching are agriculture, animal husbandry, forest management and related fields.

Founded in 1899 as the first farm school in the county, the college replaced many educational institutions and quickly gained trust among local residents. In 1980-2010, it went through many changes, received accreditations and the right to teach higher education access programs. Today, Sparsholt College offers a variety of courses in both face-to-face and distance formats, not only reaching students in Hampshire and neighboring counties, but also providing international students with the opportunity to receive a competitive education.

Located in the countryside, Sparsholt College has all the necessary conditions for students to gain practical skills: extensive fields, specialized laboratories and workshops, a horse farm and many other facilities. Classes are taught by qualified professionals with advanced degrees and many years of experience: they focus on the professional development of each student, offering individual attention to their abilities, goals and wishes.

Educational process

Additional academic support is available to students if they have difficulties in completing the curriculum or want to expand their knowledge in an area of interest to them. Special staff provide classroom support, tutoring, career mentoring services.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The residence accommodates about 400 students: they live in single rooms with private or shared bathrooms, share laundry and recreation areas. Together with the students, staff live in the residential building, who organize many events, provide round-the-clock support if necessary.

Two dining options are available to students: self-catering with access to dining halls, city restaurants and shops, or a meal plan provided by the college. Meal plans include 10 or 15 meals per week, which can be divided into breakfasts, lunches, or dinners as desired.

In their free time, students devote their knowledge to the practice: they take care of animals in the reserve, plants in greenhouses, participate in research and many other events.

Facilities and equipment at Sparsholt College

Sparsholt College is located in the countryside of Hampshire, covering an area of 183 hectares. It is home to a number of state-of-the-art facilities, allowing students to gain hands-on professional experience and the skills needed to get started, including:

Sparsholt College has its own bus fleet, thanks to which students can get from the surrounding areas to the campus.

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year consists of three semesters:

  • Autumn: September-December,
  • Spring: January-March,
  • Summer: April-June.

Between semesters, there are breaks for self-study and rest. Classes are held on weekdays, rest is held on weekends, national and international holidays, vacations.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

For admission to most programs, international applicants will need:

  • Academic certificates from the previous place of study: certificate or diploma, report cards, exam results,
  • IELTS, TOEFL or other college-recognized language exam results. Since teaching is conducted entirely in English, future students need a fairly high level of language skills.
