Summer English Course

The summer English language program, aimed at students aged 12-17, offers an exciting curriculum filled with interactive lessons in small groups, almost daily campus events and a variety of excursions to the sights of London. This course will be a great opportunity not only to improve your level of English, but also to gain valuable international learning experience, study cultural and historical sites of the capital of England in the company of classmates from all over the world.

The weekly schedule of students consists of 40 lessons of English language, and each class has its own topic that is interesting for students. The teacher who teaches students in small groups helps them improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen confidence in using English in everyday academic life. Speaking skills are practiced both outside the main classes — to develop communication skills in English, various thematic events are organized: from karaoke, parties, cooking master classes to excursions to iconic sights, trips to London museums.

During their stay at the language school, students are in an atmosphere of comprehensive support from qualified staff: they accompany students on regional trips, teach them in classrooms, and live next door to them in a residence.

King’s College London English School is an English language school offering seasonal programs for foreign students aged 12-17.

Studying in short-term courses takes place on one of the King’s College London campuses, which is ranked nationally and internationally as one of the most academically strong institutions with outstanding student and graduate results. Located in central London, the language center provides students with the opportunity to enjoy city attractions, numerous cafes, restaurants and shops — various activities are included in the curriculum: from entertainment on campus to excursions around London and surrounding areas. Students are accommodated in a residence on the King’s College London campus — Guy’s Campus. The residential building offers single and double rooms with private bathrooms, access to shared leisure and study areas.

Activities King’s College London Summer Camp

Summer course participants are looking forward to a rich leisure program, including almost daily entertainment events on campus and excursions to the sights of London. During two weeks, the program includes:

  • A walking tour of the city with visits to Parliament building, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly,
  • Visiting the London Eye — a huge Ferris wheel, an excursion to the British Museum,
  • A trip to South Kensington with a visit to the Natural History Museum,
  • A cruise on the Thames,
  • Exploring the most photographed places in London,
  • A walk through Hyde Park and the Serpentine Gallery, shopping on Marble Arch and Oxford Street,
  • Visiting Camden Town — one of London's main markets,
  • Inspection of Leicester Square, Covent Garden — a cultural arts center in the city.

Excursions include two tickets: a comfortable boat for a cruise on the Thames and a ride on the Ferris wheel.

Various events are organized on campus during lunchtime and evening, allowing students to get to know each other better, discuss their experiences and share knowledge, and have fun. The language center staff holds thematic contests based on world-famous works (for example, «The Lord of the Rings» and «Harry Potter»), culinary and creative workshops, sports training in a light entertainment format, talent shows, karaoke nights and movie screenings, parties and much more. At the end of the shift, a diploma awarding ceremony is organized — a solemn evening with dancing and summing up the results.

Facilities and equipment at King’s College London Summer Camp

Guy’s Campus, one of the academic sites of King’s College London, is located in the very center of London, just a few minutes' walk from world-famous attractions: Borough Market, The Shard London Bridge and others. Several academic buildings, two university museums and a number of residences are located on the campus. Bright and spacious classrooms, small self-study classrooms and relaxation areas have been prepared for summer programs. The dining hall and residence are located on Great Dover Street, near the teaching buildings.

Admission dates and extra charges

The seasonal English language program is conducted in July and August, offering students a choice of start date and duration: one, two or three weeks. The weekly schedule includes:

  • Breakfast — 8:00,
  • Language classes — 9:00-12:30,
  • Lunch — 12:30,
  • Excursions and events — from 14:00 or 17:30,
  • Dinner — 18:30,
  • Evening activities — from 19:30 or 22:00.

The daily schedule varies depending on whether an excursion is planned for the day.

The course fee already includes all necessary services: accommodation and meals, language classes and materials, all campus events and most excursions, a graduation certificate. Administrative fees, medical insurance, flights, and personal expenses will require additional payment.

Enrolment process

To enroll in the summer course, you need to fill out a registration form and submit the required documents. The admissions committee will contact candidates to provide all necessary information and organize an online test to assess their current language level. Upon arrival on campus, students are placed into groups based on their test results and begin their studies.

Perspectives

Upon completing the course, all students receive a graduation certificate containing information about their language progress and the number of English lessons attended. During the studies, teachers conduct intermediate interactive tests to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their students and help them improve their overall level.

Thanks to immersion in a linguistic environment and regular communication with native English speakers, students confidently use the knowledge they have gained in everyday life and studies, expanding possible academic paths for future education.

The summer program does not have strict admission criteria — the only requirements for enrollment are age between 12 and 17 years old, a valid passport, health insurance, visa or residence permit.
